1. Hollum Beach

The classic. Here you see the sun disappearing straight into the sea, with the soft sound of the waves as the soundtrack. Ideal for an evening walk or just to take a moment to stand still. Read more about the beach

2. Suudwest (to the west of Hollum)

A quiet spot between the beach and the mudflats. With a view of the lighthouse and the setting sun, you have an almost unreal horizon here.

3. Lighthouse Ameland

4. The Oerdblinkert

The highest dune of Ameland, all the way in the east. Here, you often see the sunset above the Wadden area or the dune edge, with a wide view and silence around you. Read more about the Oerd

5. The Ballumerblinkert

Lower than De Oerdblinkert, but just as atmospheric. With a view over the island, towards the west, this is a beautiful spot for the golden hour.

6. Port of Nes (spring/autumn)

By a calm Wadden Sea, the sun reflects on the water between the boats. A sunset full of atmosphere, especially in spring and autumn when the sun sets lower over the Wad.

7. Beach by Buren

A quiet alternative to Nes or Hollum, with wide sandy expanses and space to completely immerse yourself in the moment. Ideal for those who want to walk, photograph, or simply sit and watch the day slip away in silence.

8. Beach at Nes

A sunset with a vibrant atmosphere: children still playing in the sand, people with a glass of wine on a blanket, and the sun slowly disappearing into the waves.

9. From a small boat on the Wadden Sea

Beach Pavilion Sjoerd (Nes)

Early birds are rewarded

During sunrise, Ameland reveals its tranquil side: birds awaken, the mudflats lie still, and the sky slowly transitions from gray-blue to soft orange.
