In the old village Hollum you literally step into the lively history of Ameland. In streets like de Burelaan and de Oosterlaan the rich history of Ameland is alive and kicking. Hollum is also the village where the (55 meter high!) lighthouse of Ameland is situated.

An impressive appereance on the island is the lighthouse in the vollage Hollum. Teh lighthouse is built in 1880 and is 55 meters high.
Corn- and mustard mill 'De Verwachting'
In this more than hundred year old mill, the flour is grinded and musterd is made on fixed data and times. The mill also had al little shop where you can buy all kinds of mill made products, like pancake mixes and mustard.
Before Ameland natives occupied themselves with whaling, they could already look back on a centuries-long tradition of fishing closer to home.
