Can my dog run free on Ameland?
Ameland offers wonderful opportunities to walk with your four-legged friend: dogs are therefore very welcome on Ameland.
Since we wish to protect our Ameland nature, a few rules apply.
With the exception of the "groene strand" near Ballum and the bathing beaches at the beach crossings, well-trained dogs may run free on the beaches.
In addition, 3 further run-free zones for dogs have been designated on the island;
- at the "kwekerijbos" in Nes
- adjacent to Roosdunen in Ballum
- next to Koudenburg in Hollum
In all other areas on the island, such as in the forests, dunes, grazing areas, villages, and along the Wad, please keep your dog on a lead.
