The folk dance group "De Amelanders" was founded on 11 January 1962. In the touristic season the group performs at least once a week in one of the villages. Also, there are exchanges with groups "of the mainland", national and international. During its existence the groups visited England, Germany, Belgium, Denmark, Israel and Sweden and they had success everywhere with their island dances. The dance program has about 20 dances, including several seaman's dances: the 'rieldance', the 'horlepiep' and the 'zakdoeken' dance. The groups is musically accompanied by accordion players.
