During a trip with a farmer's wagon at the beach to 'het Oerd' in 2001, several ladies began to sing old native songs spontaneously. Right away the idea came to found a Beachcomber's Wives Choir and that is what happened. The choir grew and grew and within a short period of time no less than 36 ladies of the island became a member. Musical leader is Gonneke Braakman-de Graaff from Nes who arranges and studies all songs. The accordion accompaniment is from Mientje Beijaard-Brouwer and Annie Kiewied-Brouwer.
Nowadays, the beachcomber's wives perform everywhere. If you hear the ladies sing, feel free to sing your heart out!
