Corn mill 'De Phenix' is an old grain and peel mill that still works perfectly, thanks to a thorough renovation.
The mill is located on a place where they already grinded in 1629. The mill actually dates back to 1880. The name already shows: the mill was built after its predecessor was struck by lightning during heavy thunderstorm and fully burned out.
In the mill, the visitor can make use of a musical discman tour.
Often rye will be broken and wheat will be crushed. The local baker processes this into lovely rye bread, which is part of the Ameland product.
Corn mill De Phenix is currently closed.
