National Remembrance Day on 4 May, Hollum

During the National Remembrance Day on Sunday 4 May, we commemorate on Ameland all civilians and soldiers who lost their lives during the Second World War, the colonial war in Indonesiaë and in other war situations or peace operations.

Between 6pm and sunset, the flags will hang at half-mast – as a sign of reverence and respect. At 20:00 we are silent for two minutes.

On Ameland, the commemoration is organised jointly by village interests, churches, primary schools, marching bands and the municipality. A memorial service will be held in both Nes and Hollum. You are welcome to attend.
