Every year there is a hiking tour around the whole island Ameland, Rondje Ameland, of about 50 km.
What started as a joke at the bar in 1997, has become a true hiking event nowadays. The start is at 05:00 in Hollum. Via the beach of Hollum, along the sea wall at the southside of the island to Nes and Buren and then along the beach back to Hollum with a musical welcome on the Zwaneplein. Rondje Ameland is not a running competition but a beautiful hiking event.
