Lighthouse of Ameland

An impressive appereance on the island is the lighthouse in the vollage Hollum. Teh lighthouse is built in 1880 and is 55 meters high.

Corn- and mustard mill 'De Verwachting'

In this more than hundred year old mill, the flour is grinded and musterd is made on fixed data and times. The mill also had al little shop where you can buy all kinds of mill made products, like pancake mixes and mustard.

Watchman and Guard

In the dunes of Hollum on wadden island Ameland, along the path called "De Klonjes", you will find a work of art!

"De O'slach"

Before Ameland natives occupied themselves with whaling, they could already look back on a centuries-long tradition of fishing closer to home.

Hidde Dirks Kat

Hidde Dirks Kat (1747-1824) is the best-known commander of Wadden island Ameland. This is partly due to the diary he kept about surviving a winter in Greenland.
