Biological Ameland beef - Tourist Information

Biological Ameland beef

On our beautiful Wadden island Ameland we milk our cows of the "blaarkop" race. Their 100% natural and creamy milk has a unique composition relatively rich in mono-unsaturates.

Our cows freely graze the area surrounding Halfweg estate, located between Hollum and Ballum on the Verbindingsweg. Our certified butcher, Menno Hoekstra from Dokkum takes care of the slaughter and packaging of the meat that will be delivered deep-frozen to us.

The "blaarkop" cow is a cow with a double function. This means that they are suitable for both milk and meat production.

It is historically a cow race from Groningen and has beautifully marbled meat, which means that the beef fat is thinly woven through the meat. As a result of this the juices will be preserved during the preparation.

You are very welcome to visit the farm of family Blokker.
