Ameland and Corona

What do the Corona measures mean for Ameland?
The following information is valid as of March 29, 2021.

Transportation

  • Ameland is reachable. 
  • On the ferry extra measures apply. Wearing a non-medical face mask is mandatory for people aged 13 years and older. For details and timetable please refer to the Wagenborg website.
  • The buses on Ameland run according to the timetable. Wearing a non-medical face mask is mandatory for people aged 13 years and older.
  • Every car driver may bring one person from another household. This maximum does not apply if you are in the car with family members from your own household. Wear a face mask if you are in the car with people from another household. Are you in the car with people from the same household? Then a face mask is not necessary.

VVV reservations and information

  • Do you have questions regarding your reservation from VVV Ameland? Please contact us preferably by e-mail (info@vvvameland.nl) and include your name and reservation number.
  • Cancellations will be processed according to the Terms and Conditions.
  • The VVV Tourist office in Nes and Hollum is open by appointment.
  • Thelibraries in Nes and Hollum are closed. Picking up reserved books and returning books is possible.
  • The ING service point in Nes is open by appointment.
  • The PostNL-packagepoint in Hollum is open.

Entertainment and activities

  • Restaurants are closed. Pick-up and/or delivery of meals is possible at some establishments.
  • Restaurants at hotels are not closed, guests are allowed to pick up and eat meals in their hotel room.
  • Toilet, wash, and shower areas on camp grounds and in yacht harbours are open.
  • Two public toilets on Ameland are open.
  • Supermarkets, butchers, bakeries, liquor stores, drugstores, petrol stations, car garages and bicycle repair shops are open and have a door policy. In supermarkets, shopping with a trolley is mandatory, and it is expected that customers shop alone. Wearing a face mask is mandatory. This applies to everyone from the age of 13.
  • Non-essential retail stores are open by appointment.
  • Museums on Ameland are closed.
  • There are currently no organized activities or boat trips on Ameland. See here what you can do on Ameland.

Medical service

  • GPs do not have regular consulting hours. Please call them if you have any health concerns.
  • On Ameland Corona tests are carried out at, among others, the GP practices
  • On Ameland you will be able to make an appointment for a corona test at one of two GP offices. There is also an option to get yourself tested with a rapid test by Medical Ameland.. Alternatively, you can get tested at an another location in the country.

In public, you need to keep a minimum distance of 1,5 meter to others. If not, you could risk a fine.
